The John Banks.- This fine ship arrived off Holdfast Bay at a late hour on Monday night. The arrival was only announced, however, by the discharge of three rockets and the burning of sundry blue lights on board. The arrival was supposed to be the Burra Burra from Melbourne, and it was only after a long search that the fact was ascertained. The John Banks is a Sunderland-built ship, almost new, this being her second voyage. Much rough weather was experienced in the English Channel. The Equator was crossed on the 12th March, and on the same day the ship City of Manchester was signalled, but her destination was not ascertained, On the 1st April, in lat.12°35'S., spoke the French ship Paulister, from Havre March 8th, bound to Valparaido and thus was obtained the European intelligence elsewhere referred to.
